On a nutritional basis, there are only slight differences between various types of beans, including black beans, butter beans, black-eyed peas, split peas, chickpeas, navy beans, white beans, kidney beans, lima beans, baked beans and lentils.  All beans are full of plant proteins and have beneficial fibre, are cholesterol free and low in fat meaning beans health benefits are high.

Beans have a myriad of health benefits such as:

preventing and curing constipation

blocks cancer via its chemical compounds
controlling bloody sugar and insulin
reducing ‘bad’ cholesterol
lowering bloody pressure
regulating the function of the colon
prevents haemorrhoids and other bowel ailments
Beans are an excellent source of complex carbohydrates (starches) and are high in potassium, low in sodium and high in iron and thiamine.

Another of the humble Beans health benefits is they are rich in anti-cancer chemicals called ‘lignans’. Colon bacteria eats undigested beans change ‘lignans’ into hormone-like substances which may fight off and prevent some cancers.

Beans not only reduce blood cholesterol, but also control blood sugar and insulin. The high content of gummy pectin fibre in beans produces this effect. It also lowers blood pressure and makes you feel less hungry.

Beans promote the passage of food through the digestive tract and improves colon function. They are known to alleviate the symptoms of diverticular disease, haemorrhoids and bowel irregularities and ailments.
