Peggy the Goat

Peggy was only 3 to 4 months old when she arrived in our front paddock. Non of our neighbours had goats, so we wondered where she'd come from and made a point of looking for her owners. No one in the district knew where she'd come from, but she arrived with a small dog collar on, so clearly she had had human owners.

I couldn't get anywhere near her and she hung around the horses for weeks on end.

Then, one morning, she was seen limping badly. It ended up that one of the horses had stood on her thigh and snapped the bone. So a trip to the vet was in order, and off came one of her back legs.

She was confined to a small outhouse and we got to know each other during her healing. I found all of her 'scratchy spots' and we've since become very close friends.

Peggy spends her days in the orchard, on a long line and chain. I can't let her loose because, as a goat, she would demolish all the fruit and nut trees ... but she has her own space and freedom and lives a pretty nice life for a 3 legged pet goat.

Peggy is a funny, happy, friendly, loving animal who enjoys the company of the other animals (eg dogs, sheep, chickens, ducks ...) and loves a good run and play. She spends her nights in her own home, safe and warm, and is one very well-loved little goat.

Peggy's new home, and she loves it!
(it now has a blanket and hay so she is snug and warm for the winter months)

Tyson is Peggy's first visitor.

  1. What a precious little girl she is! And what a lovely, beautiful life you have. (This is my favorite of all your blogs, I just decided.) Thank you so much for all you do for us, Joanne. You're such an inspiration and so graciously giving of your time, energy and heart. Thank you seems so small compared to all you do for us. I use your # site so many times a day and I'm always so grateful for the positive messages and in awe of your ability to listen so clearly.
I just love your life! May God bless you and yours, many times over. With so much love....
